Our story

From the Deccan plateau, with fire

Deccan Spice House began as a roadside kitchen in the old city, cooking biryani in sealed copper handis for families heading home at midnight. Decades later we still cook the Deccan way — generous with chilli, tamarind, curry leaf and ghee, never shy of flavour.

We cook Hyderabadi dum biryani the long way, temper our salans with peanuts and sesame, and finish every meal with the apricot-rich Qubani Ka Meetha. No shortcuts, no bottled masala — only what we grind ourselves.

  • Sealed-handi dum biryani, opened at the table
  • Hyderabadi salans and fiery Andhra-style curries
  • Charcoal kebabs & fresh breads from the clay tandoor

“The chicken dum biryani arrived still sealed and the aroma when they opened it — unreal. Easily the best I have had outside Hyderabad.”

“Fiery, fresh and generous. The Chicken 65 had a proper curry-leaf kick and the kulfi cooled it all down.”
